Ace

Mixed Breed · Male

Ace ID No.: 1037871 Breed: mixed breed Age: approx. 12/2017 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 65 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Ace – a brave fighter with a heart of gold Ace (approx. 12/2017, approx. 65 cm) was abandoned by his owner at the animal shelter in a shocking condition. His skin was severely inflamed, swollen, and painful—one of the worst cases we’ve ever seen. An immediate visit to the veterinary dermatologist clarified the extent of his severe alopecia, dramatically worsened by prolonged neglect and lack of medical care. Poor Ace could barely rest, scratching incessantly and often crying out from discomfort. But Ace is fighting—and we’re fighting right alongside him. Our volunteers bathe him daily with medicated shampoo, veterinarians consistently provide necessary medications, and gradually, we’re beginning to see the first signs of improvement. His journey back to a healthy, pain-free life will still be long and challenging, yet every day Ace shows just how much he wants to live and how full of joy he truly is. Despite all he’s endured, Ace has retained his wonderful temperament. He is an incredibly loving, friendly, and affectionate dog who enjoys every form of human closeness and is highly food-motivated—he’ll patiently offer his paw until you finally give him a treat. Learning little tricks, working together, and receiving attention make him happy. Sometimes Ace lets out a soft “wuff” into the air for no obvious reason. It’s his way of expressing that he’s still a bit sad and frustrated—but at the same time, it’s deeply touching, because even in those moments, he remains utterly endearing. He’s easygoing when taken out of his kennel, and once you’ve found a spot in the dog park, he settles down beside you, rests his head on the ground, and calmly observes his surroundings or simply relaxes. So far, he’s shown himself to be respectful and friendly around other dogs. Due to his daily medical care, Ace is accustomed to being touched and handled all over his body—and he increasingly enjoys this attention. His gentle, slightly clumsy demeanor has already made him a favorite among many volunteers. Ace has been through so much, yet he remains full of kindness, hope, and trust. Now he needs a home where he can heal, have loving people by his side, and finally experience what it feels like to be cared for and valued. Ace is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. About Ace

What life with Ace looks like

Ace is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ace, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ace?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ace on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ace if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ace already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ace isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ace and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
