Найстрашніше — це їхня вірність. Вони не побігли шукати їжу, не ховалися. Вони до самого обіду сиділи на тому самому місці, вдивляючись у дорогу. Вони були впевнені: це помилка, за ними зараз повернуться, їх не могли просто так кинути. Тільки коли голод став сильнішим за надію, вони почали заглядати у двори, де були відчинені ворота. Тихенько, смиренно, ніби вибачаючись за те, що вони існують.
