Astra

Mixed Breed · Male

Astra – Gentle and very friendly female dog seeks her Forever Home Astra is a charming mixed-breed female dog with a particularly affectionate nature. She was, like many other dogs, picked up by local authorities from the streets and brought to an animal hospital. Unfortunately, we know little about her early life, but from the moment she arrived at the Nirina animal shelter in Tuzla, she showed us her great trust in humans. Upon her arrival, Astra actively sought out contact, came curiously to the fence, and simply wanted to belong. After a thorough veterinary examination, she was allowed to move into the Nirina animal shelter in Tuzla, where she quickly settled in and was integrated into the pack. At the vet, she showed herself to be calm, patient, and absolutely cooperative – no fear or stress, but a balanced behavior. Astra is a gentle, calm, and very friendly female dog. She loves people as much as other dogs and meets new situations openly and adaptably. She looks similar to local hunting dog breeds, such as the Posavac running dog, but we have not observed any pronounced hunting instincts in her. Instead, she brings exactly the qualities one would wish for in a loyal family dog: she is loyal, cuddly, smart, and enjoys the company of her people. On the leash, Astra already runs beautifully and calmly. She is not a hectic female dog, but she is happy to go on long walks and spend time in nature. She especially loves exploring her surroundings with her people. She likes children very much, and play and fun are not lacking either. Astra is ready for her new chapter – a loving home where she can arrive and be part of the family. Whoever wins her heart gets a faithful companion for life. Astra travels neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and with an international pet passport from Bosnia. All our dogs are only placed after a positive. About Astra

What life with Astra looks like

Astra is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Astra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Astra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Astra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Astra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Astra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Astra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Astra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
