Baran

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 10 months

Like many of the homeless cats and dogs on the island, this handsome fellow had found a home with a family at their vacation house. He was lucky; the people were very animal-loving, and he was allowed to stay, was cared for, and even got a collar. And so the young dog enjoyed a wonderful time. As the people’s vacation drew to an end and it became clear that no more guests would be staying, they sought help for the dog they didn’t want to leave unattended. They asked in the neighborhood, but no one there knew the dog, and no one missed him. No one wanted to take him in. But the tourists gave them the tip to try our partners... And so it happened that the friendly little puppy moved into the rescue. Baran, as he is now called, showed himself from the first moment to be at his best: he is loving, friendly, people-oriented, compatible with the other dogs, and even with the cats. So a great fellow, who only lacks one thing for complete happiness: a permanent home. And that is what we now want to find for him. As soon as possible, Baran should embark on his journey to Germany, so that he can be happy with loving people who would like to give him a close family connection. Would you like to enrich your family with such a lovely new member? January 31, 2026: Baran was allowed to travel to his German foster home. February 5, 2026: Baran has recently arrived at his foster home and is delighted there with his open, friendly nature. He shows himself to be an uncomplicated young puppy who gets along well with both the existing dog and the cats. Baran is age-appropriate in his liveliness and sometimes still a bit stormy in his joy, but always loving, cuddly, and very people-oriented. He loves attention, actively seeks contact with people, and also greets strangers and other dogs friendly. For Baran, everyone is a friend to be greeted with joy. He is eager to learn and clever: "Sit" he already masters well, and consistent work on house training is currently being done. Like every young dog, Baran still needs training, clear structures, and people who can teach him the basics of dog training with patience and joy. For Baran, we wish for a loving home with people who enjoy accompanying a young dog, challenging him mentally and physically, and giving him security and orientation. If you are looking for a cheerful, friendly, and clingy companion who will win your heart, you will find a wonderful lifelong friend in Baran.

About Baran

What life with Baran looks like

Baran is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baran, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baran?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baran on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baran if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baran already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baran isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baran and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
