Beer

Kangal · Male · Adult · 5 years

Beer is an enormous big man who came to us as a foundling. His name already says it, he has a great cuddly character and also lies around a lot. He gets along with everyone and finds everything quite good. He walks nicely on a leash and ignores everything he comes across. He also likes lying outside, so a large, well-fenced garden or yard where he can freely go about his business is definitely his preference. He also really wants human contact, so he's certainly not a dog that can be used solely as a property guardian. He is still quite playful and if you challenge him a little, he can act silly for a while and then happily lie on his back. At 63 kilograms, he is also very imposing, and a new owner must also realize that a lot of food is needed per day to fill his stomach. Do you like giant teddy bears and do you have a large property and house where Mr. can comfortably stay? Then fill out the contact form below and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

NL·Show original

About Beer

What life with Beer looks like

Beer is a large adult kangal dog waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Beer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Beer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Beer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Beer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Beer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Beer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Beer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
