Bonis

Male

Large-breed puppy dog owner – not too generous welfare representative – one day simply went missing. Neighbors, as they had previously done with the dog, took care of the dog for a while until they decided to find him normal living conditions. But such conditions often begin directly at the shelter for these forgotten animals. According to the neighbors' story, the dog had been sitting in the kennel since puppy days, even sleeping in a cold shed without a proper bed. Shelter Bonis, which is around 2–3 years old, initially felt very upset. Seeing how rough, stubborn, and a large (36 kg) sleek little dog trembles like a wilted leaf, was touching. Now that the pup has settled in, he turns out to be a fine, social, and quite self-assured dog. A bit shy, he will be a simple great friend! Bonis loves walks, gets along well with other dogs, and is not aggressive. Due to her size, she might not be the best fit for a family with very small children. Bonis is ideally suited for private home life with a secure back yard, where he behaves very well and is clean. The clever dog as a friend and companion for those whose absent father is a family member, not just a signal, is a braniac.

LV·Show original

Lielā auguma suņjaunekļa īpašnieks – ne pārāk labvēlīga kontingenta pārstāvis – kādu dienu vienkārši pazuda. Kaimiņi kādu brīdi suni, kā to jau iepriekš bija darījuši, pabaroja, līdz lēma meklēt viņam normālas dzīves iespējas.

About Bonis

What life with Bonis looks like

Bonis is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
