Camaron

Podenco · Male · Adult · 7 years

Camaron – this time it's for good. Camaron has been with his foster family for several weeks now, and he has settled in enough to start looking for his forever home. In Spain, he had several previous owners, but that certainly wasn't his fault, because he is a kind and friendly dog. Camaron is a very active little four-legged friend who wants and needs to be occupied. If he doesn't have enough exercise and stimulation, it takes him a while to calm down. Once he has been sufficiently physically and mentally stimulated, he can lie down comfortably and also enjoy being alone for a while. He also likes to accompany his people; for example, he travels well in the car. Camaron loves collecting objects like shoes, toilet paper, boxes, and many other things. He then tears up cardboard and paper; he has retained something puppy-like behavior. He is often out in the garden and examines all the hedges, scaring away the birds and finding everything exciting and great. Camaron gets along well with the other dogs at the foster home, but he also shows his limits when it comes to food and a comfortable spot. Camaron definitely doesn't need other dogs to be happy. As a much-loved only prince, he would probably feel even more comfortable. At first, he is very reserved around strangers, but with people he knows, he likes to cuddle on the couch and enjoys his affection. Camaron is an obedient and calming dog. At night he sleeps peacefully at his place, and of course, he is housebroken. In short... Camaron is an active, friendly dog for people who themselves like to be on the move and are looking for a friendly four-legged companion. Here is Camaron's video.

About Camaron

What life with Camaron looks like

Camaron is a small adult podenco dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Camaron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Camaron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Camaron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Camaron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Camaron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Camaron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Camaron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
