Chapo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

A forever family, that's what Chapo wishes for! Chapo was surrendered to our Spanish partner shelter. This sweet guy has lost his home, and we wish for Chapo to be part of a family again soon. We don't know what his previous life as a "family dog" was like. However, the young male shows himself to be a very friendly dog soul in the shelter. Chapo enjoys the attention from the staff. In the first contact with the free-roaming dogs in the shelter, he showed himself to be socially acceptable. For the open and friendly Chapo, we are looking for a loving home. This should want to open all doors towards a happy dog life for him. Chapo will certainly need some time to get oriented in his new life. In a positive coexistence, this lovely dog can take all the steps towards being a great family dog. Chapo wishes for an active family that will have a lot of fun with shared activities. Together with his humans, he would like to explore and conquer his new world. Step by step towards a great dog-human relationship. If you have a free basket waiting for Chapo and you want to give him a shared future, then we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are aware of the special responsibility and have a serious interest in adopting Chapo, please contact the responsible adoption officer. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact details are below. Here are the videos of Chapo: Video 1 Video 2 Video 3 Video 4

About Chapo

What life with Chapo looks like

Chapo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chapo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chapo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chapo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chapo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chapo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chapo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chapo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
