Chuk

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Chuk did not arrive at the animal shelter alone—he came with his dog family. By his side was his 11-year-old father, who fortunately already found a home, and his two sisters, Poli and Meri. They ended up at the animal shelter after the death of their owner—the only person and the only life they had ever known. Unlike his father, who adapted more quickly, Chuk and his sisters are very shy dogs. They spent their entire lives isolated in a yard, so the world outside was completely foreign to them. Meanwhile, Chuk has learned to walk on a leash and now walks very nicely, although he is still at the beginning of discovering all the things that most dogs consider normal everyday life. New people, sounds, traffic, and unfamiliar situations are things he still needs to learn and accept. Chuk is a very submissive and gentle dog, and he has also learned to get along with other dogs. For this reason, we believe that he would benefit greatly from a calm canine society—ideally a balanced and relaxed dog who could give him confidence and help him feel safer. It is especially important to note that Chuk shows no signs of aggression. If something bothers or frightens him, he simply withdraws and seeks protection instead. He is a gentle, quiet, and sensitive dog who needs time to build trust and feel safe. We firmly believe that Chuk can finally flourish in a quiet and patient home with people who do not expect too much from him at first. He does not require much—just a chance to slowly discover that life can be good and beautiful. Who would like to give this fine fellow a new home?

DE·Show original

About Chuk

What life with Chuk looks like

Chuk is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chuk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chuk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chuk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chuk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chuk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chuk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chuk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
