Ena

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 3 years

In Spain, the young Ena arrived at the animal shelter in a miserable condition. This was due to an untreated Leishmania infection. For several months, Ena has been living in Germany with a foster family. The treatment for the Leishmania infection was started immediately. With each month, the treatment became more and more effective. And month by month, life began to peek around the corner again - now Ena is a happy and lively dog. Currently, the loving dog still needs medication for the Leishmania infection. At the foster home, Ena lives peacefully with three other dogs. She is a cuddly mouse and her dog heart is closely connected to the hearts of her family. Ena looks forward to dog walks and shows herself on the paths as a confident dog. She walks well on a leash and has good lead handling; Ena is also responsive. For an appropriate period, Ena can also stay alone obediently. Now we are looking for a permanent and loving home for Ena. Ena should be allowed to find her fixed place in the hearts of her people. These people should have a lot of joy in shared activities with this great dog. Her future home must continue the treatment for Leishmania and plan regular veterinary visits. It would be nice if Ena could be greeted by a dog companion in her home. A free basket is waiting for Ena with you, and you want to share all the following years of dog life with this wonderful dog in love and responsibility, then we look forward to your sincere inquiry. Here is Ena's video. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack of past experiences or situations they haven't learned yet and need time to adjust to their new life.

About Ena

What life with Ena looks like

Ena is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
