Eve

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

A heart on four paws is looking for a permanent home. Eve comes from Bulgaria. She is currently living in a foster home in Germany. There, she lives with other dogs. The female dog has a severe impairment of her eyesight. Eve is blind in the right eye and the left eye only has 50% vision. The dog loves to be occupied and shows great joy in sniffing games, tracking or trailing. The most fun for Eve is playing with companions who are a match for her and who can also put her in her place. Walking with the almost blind dog goes well. However, she is startled by passing tractors and cars. During dog encounters, she moves forward powerfully and noisily, but not aggressively. More control is still needed here. Now, the energetic bundle can also calm down and relax in her soft basket. During the day, Eve is housebroken, but at night she cannot hold it for 8 hours. Eve's behavior resembles that of a puppy, and both Eve and her future family will face some challenges that still need to be overcome. We are now looking for a loving and permanent home for Eve. It should be located in a rural and quiet area. A large and securely fenced garden must be available for Eve. Eve is not a dog for single housing. Therefore, there should be at least one confident dog-friendly person waiting for this special dog in her future home. If you want to take the journey with Eve and reliably support and guide the dog in her further development, we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are aware of the special responsibility and have a serious interest in adopting Eve, please contact the responsible adoption officer. Here is Eve's video.

About Eve

What life with Eve looks like

Eve is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eve, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eve?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eve on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eve if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eve already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eve isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eve and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
