All Dogs Fiete Drucken Published: June 3, 2026 Birthdate: estimated September 2023 Gender: male Breed: mix Size (shoulder height): ca. to be reported Weight: ca. to be reported Fiete has found a home. Fiete came to you from Germany after spending about 12 weeks at Smeura in Romania and about 7 months. He was very anxious and had to get used to life in the city and apartment in small steps. He lived with a small dog. Unfortunately, he showed threatening behavior from his crate, so he was reluctantly given up. At the animal shelter, he showed cuddly, playful, and friendly behavior. He found two new owners quickly, but at first, he was unsure. He formed a friendship with only a primary caregiver after a short adjustment period. He was unsure around strangers, but in the house, he barked at them. Unfortunately, he also had an aggressive side, and after the adjustment, it didn't work with people and the only dog. His walkers report: He doesn't walk. He likes to walk slowly and runs joyfully on the leash. Calling him to heel is still to be practiced. With other dogs, it depends on their liking. Suddenly bright light, fluttering flags, or spinning windmills on the horizon unsettle him, and he doesn't want to continue or wants to determine the direction himself. However, he can be persuaded and guided with body language. If he is to be trained purposefully, another dog in training comes too close, and if one presses him, he snaps and clearly shows his limits. He is accustomed to a muzzle. He would rather be a solo prince. With him, good and competent dog experience with anxious and dominant dogs is needed, as he fluctuates between the two. The new owners should meet him confidently and steadfastly, give clear leadership without pressure, and be patient. He has a quick learning ability if he wants to learn. For example, he can be trained with him. This animal has a history of biting.

About Fiete

What life with Fiete looks like

Fiete is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiete, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiete?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiete on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiete if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fiete already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiete isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiete and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
