Fito

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Fito arrived to us in poor condition, and really afraid. He did not have a microchip, and he arrived with Sanidad after being found on the street. Fito's vision is a bit less than perfect, and also he cannot hear so well, so it is important that people approach him in a way that he can feel you coming close to him. He might seem a bit disoriented when left alone in an unknown place due to the lacking of these senses, just take him with you on your side when you move along! He enjoys to be rubbed under his chin by the people he knows, and he loves to stroll around in the sun with his best friend Vicente. Fito is very snack-oriented and will follow you anywhere if he smells snacks in your pocket. Food makes him happy, dancing and wiggling his butt! Due to the renal insufficiency that we saw in his first blood test, he is eating special food "Renal" and healthy snacks like blueberries, apples, carrots. Fito is a calm dog, who likes to rest most of the time on a soft bed, and he also likes to go for calm walks, preferably together with a canine friend, who helps him orientate, who will be his eyes and ears. Fito is looking for a calm home with a small number of family members, and preferably without children, not because he does not like children, but because the energetic movements of children would be too much for his limited vision. Fito also uses his mouth a lot for playing, communicating, and for grabbing snacks, so when introducing kids (especially who are holding food) to Fito, we just have to look out that he accidentally does scare a child. He would really like to have a home together with another friendly, calm dog, to snuggle together for the rest of their lives, to go walking together on adventures. Fito shared his bed, toys and food very well with his canine friends. Fito understandably does not want to be randomly grabbed and touched especially by strangers, that is not a favourite thing for him. He is looking for a human, who will speak for him, and allow him just to be in peace, when meeting new people in social situations. With the humans that he knows and trusts, he is a very cheerful boy, running to you when he hears your voice, greeting you with happy cries, and wagging his tail every time you are near. Fito's age is very approximate, it is not very clear how old he is, when you see him, you might think he is a really senior boy, but actually the veterinary check shows he is younger. Probably a difficult past life makes him appear older.... Together with his new family, the shelter would carry out additional tests for his renal condition, to learn the potential cause, and how to best help him more. His shoulder height is 49cm. He is castrated, vaccinated and ready for his new family! He is negative on Mediterranean diseases.

About Fito

What life with Fito looks like

Fito is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Vision and hearing impairment, kidney insufficiency requiring special renal diet

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
