Freya

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Kitten · 5 months

Freya: 1% Chaos, 99% Liebe (and a white tail tip) Only a few hours old when Freya arrived at our foster home all alone, she had already been abandoned by her mother and her two siblings had died at birth. This made her the very first kitten of the year, so she had to spend her first weeks completely alone. But despite all the hardships, Freya has always shown one thing clearly: "I want to live!" And that's exactly what she did – with unbelievable determination, a big appetite, and a huge heart. Freya was born on March 1, 2026, and has grown into a truly incredible, special little cat. Typical for her age – now slowly entering the teen phase – she is playful and curious but also cuddly and people-oriented. She actively seeks out cuddles and likes to lie in bed with us at night. In general, she loves closeness and attention. Sometimes she also needs to know exactly where her people are and actively searches for them. But more important to her are other cats. Because Freya grew up in a small group and playing with them is especially important to her. Her beautiful green eyes immediately catch the eye – and the small white tail tip that she joyfully chases at least once a day. Freya is double vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed multiple times and is ready to move into her new home. An appropriate husbandry is important to us. This includes, among other things: high-quality nutrition, plenty of scratching and enrichment opportunities, regular veterinary care, and a home where she can be a true family member – and not just a pet. Kittens are never placed alone, as young cats need a compatible feline companion. Therefore, Freya is looking for a home with an already existing young cat (maximally around 1 year old) or together with another kitten of a similar age. Freya is a real heart cat and we wish for people who will give her as much love as she gives every day. If you have serious interest, please tell us a little about yourselves, your living situation, and any existing animals.

About Freya

What life with Freya looks like

Freya is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
