Gami

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Gami is about a 7-year-old female dog who came to us from Ukraine. She is one of many quiet victims of the war – abandoned, scared, with an enormous burden of experiences that she should never have had to carry. She is withdrawn, delicate girl who is afraid in the first contact. She needs time, calmness and patience to trust a person. She gets along very well with other dogs – they often give her a sense of security. After being spayed, she was taught to walk on a leash, so it's just a matter of reminding her. She allows trusted people to take her for walks and she really likes it. Gami is like a quiet, gray mouse – she doesn't impose herself, doesn't cause problems. In the shelter, she had two caregivers who she fully trusted – with them, she was a completely different dog. She would come for pets, seek affection, and was able to open up to a relationship. This shows how much potential she has and how much she longs for closeness – she just needs time to build it. This is not a dog that will jump onto someone's lap immediately, but if someone gives her a chance, she will eventually open up completely and show how much she has to offer. She can bloom in a home. Gami doesn't need much – just calmness, a heart and understanding.

PL·Show original

Potrzebuje czasu, spokoju i cierpliwości, by zaufać człowiekowi.

About Gami

What life with Gami looks like

Gami is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gami, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gami?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gami on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gami if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gami already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gami isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gami and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
