GILBERT

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 13 months

Life is beautiful when you are thirteen years old. You are full of optimism. You have all sorts of plans for the future. So many that every day you see a different scenario of your life. Your blood flows so strongly that you could move mountains every day. You are the king of life! There is nothing impossible! 👑 Unless... well, exactly... unless you are thirteen years old and you are a dog. Then your daily routine looks different. Your body has its limitations. Bones start to creak, joints grind, your jaw can no longer handle your favorite treats. The eye becomes cloudy. You lose your sparkle in your eye. You still have a lot to offer, though. Despite everything, you keep up with your human during walks. You can still fetch, even with a jump! You still accurately sense your human's emotions and heal their wounds best. In return, you receive an ocean of love and care that fuels your will to live... unless... unless you don't have your human. Unless you've been waiting for 1873 days in the animal shelter for a human for whom you could be just that dog. You bravely handled the hardships of fate. You tamed kidney function disorders (you liked the renal diet), you have very good test results, but there is something you no longer have - hope. 😞 You feel apathy, you lose the will to fight, you bury your dreams of a home deep under a tree. Nothing amuses you anymore. You no longer wait for your favorite caregiver or volunteer. You no longer get excited about your bowl, treats and walk. You lie stiffly tied to the floor of the kennel and you no longer wait for anything... 💔 I'm Ivan, and this is my story. (13 years old, 40 kg, 5 years in the animal shelter). A puppy brings joy, energy, and excitement into a home. Inviting a senior into your life can start an equally exciting journey. It may be shorter, but does that make it any less valuable? Definitely not!!! As long as the spark of life still flickers, let's fight to keep the flame of life alive! If someone reading this post is ready to open their heart and the door of their home for our senior Ivan, he can count on the support of the animal shelter in his medical care, as it works with the so-called "lifetime foster home". 🏡 Ivan can live with a calmer dog, cats are indifferent to him. 🐈‍⬛🐈 PS.

Masz jednak nadal wiele do zaoferowania. 💔 Jestem Iwan, a to moja historia. (13 lat, 40 kg wagi, 5 lat w schronisku).

About GILBERT

What life with GILBERT looks like

GILBERT is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting GILBERT, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GILBERT?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GILBERT on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GILBERT if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is GILBERT already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GILBERT isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know GILBERT and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
