Hans

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

During our team project tour in mid-April 2026, Canile Arzachena was naturally a very important destination for us. On the one hand, we wanted to see our animals that had been waiting there for a longer time, on the other hand, the dogs should all be treated prophylactically against parasites. Because as we had already seen at other stops, ticks were again very widespread. Last but not least, there were also new arrivals that we wanted to meet. For example, the two young dogs Hans and Harlei. The two male dogs had been found by a German woman who often spends longer periods of time near Arzachena. Inquiries whether someone in the neighborhood missed the two remained unsuccessful. So the German woman informed the Vigili, and the two dogs could move into Canile. We had already heard from the young German woman, who had also informed us and had taken the two young males to her heart, that Hans and Harlei were very lovable young males. And so it was. The two were very happy when we came into their enclosure. They enjoyed our attention, the petting and of course our treats very much. They were completely unreserved and wanted to be cuddled by all of us. It was a joy to spend a little time with the two. From the bottom of our hearts, we now wish these two really great young dogs that they can leave Canile quickly with our help and travel to Germany. There, Hans and Harlei will find their dream home with kind people who will warmly welcome them into their family and let them participate in all family activities. Would you like to give Hans and Harlei, these wonderful and people-oriented young males, the chance for a wonderful, happy and hopefully long life?If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and you are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. About Hans

What life with Hans looks like

Hans is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hans, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hans?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hans on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hans if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hans already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hans isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hans and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
