India

India - affectionate dog grandma India is an elderly dog lady living in Germany with a foster family. Living with the existing pack is completely problem-free. India is an incredibly gentle and loving dog soul, once she has gained trust. As trust grows steadily, so does her human-oriented nature, and India becomes the shadow of her attachment figures. Petting is very important for India. The sweet girl sleeps a lot and shows herself to be a calm, contented roommate. India is housebroken. With her pack, the dog grandma sometimes also goes for longer walks. Training in leash handling still needs to be improved. So far, no hunting instinct has been detected. However, India is interested in the dog newspaper and attentively notices the tracks of other animals. We wish for the elderly India a loving and patient home. She is a great dog who should now find her "Forever Bed". A home where India can spend her final years happily and contentedly. Her future home should be willing to foster the relationship building with lots of love, patience, and time. Because India will need her time to arrive and trust again. A garden would be desirable so that dog grandma India can move around safely and freely. An experienced first dog living in the future home could make India's arrival easier in all aspects. Her heart beats for older dog souls, and India could move into your retirement home? Then we would be happy to receive your inquiry. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you have serious interest in adopting India, please contact the responsible counselor from SALVA Dog Help.

About India

What life with India looks like

India is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting India, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about India?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw India on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt India if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is India already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if India isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know India and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
