Lena

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Lena, found at the forest edge, is searching for a loving home. Who has a cozy bed for the sweet mouse 💗 💟💗💟💗💟💗💟💗💟💗💟💗💟💗💟💗 Hello, I am Lena from Romania and I am on the search for my forever dog bed. In Romania, it’s not a given that every dog has its own dog bed, or a master or mistress, no, such a thing is really special. I was also found abandoned, at the forest edge with my siblings, and we were still quite young. Miraculously, we were saved, who knows how it would have ended otherwise. Since then, I have lived in a private shelter, and I don’t lack anything here, my belly is full and I don’t have to worry, but the feeling of belonging, always having someone around who takes care of me, experiencing adventures together, that’s what I miss. That’s why I very much wish that I now find my person and can spend wonderful times with them, grow old with them, and live a happy life with them. The one thing that dogs must learn once is something I still need to learn, of course I don’t know much yet, but we will definitely figure it out together. So, now I hope you see me here and get in touch quickly, so I can move in with you as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting your Lena. 💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜 VINFORMATION: puppy, girl, around 6 months old (as of September 2021), breed unknown/mixed breed (mother unknown), estimated adult size medium, around 40cm - 45cm. Temperament: puppy-like, playful, compatible, friendly, interested in her surroundings, curious. She will stay until her travel arrangements are made in the private shelter in Romania. Cat-friendliness can be tested upon request, but we have a lot of good experience with puppies. She travels microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, with anti-parasite medication, EU Pass, and traces. Spaying is not possible due to her age.

💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟💜💟 Eckdaten: Welpe, Mädchen, rund 6 Monate (Stand September 2021), Rasse unbekannt/Mischling (Mutter unbekannt) geschätzte Endgrösse mittelgroß rund 40cm - 45cm Charakter: welpentypisch verspielt, verträglich, freundlich, interessiert an ihrer Umwelt, neugierig.

About Lena

What life with Lena looks like

Lena is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Step by Paw e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Step by Paw e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Step by Paw e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Step by Paw e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
