Leroy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Leroy is an approximately one-year-old Kokoni mix who has spent his previous life in Greece and now awaits the people in a foster home in Germany where he will finally find his forever home. Kokonis are known as particularly people-oriented, intelligent, and loyal dogs that form a close bond with their trusted people. This perfectly describes Leroy as well. The young male dog wants to please, belong, and simply go through life together with his people. He especially enjoys every form of closeness and shared activities. Leroy loves driving – he relaxes and observes the world, making him a pleasant companion. He has already learned basic commands like "sit" and shows that he likes to work together. With "stay," he still needs a little help, but with patience and loving consistency, he will surely master it soon. Like many young dogs, Leroy still has a lot to learn. Currently, his leash manners are being worked on because outside, he sometimes loses his orientation and needs people who can give him security and clear guidance. He generally gets along well with other dogs. At first, he sometimes appears a bit more confident or dominant, likely out of insecurity. Once he has gained trust, however, he shows a much more relaxed and friendly demeanor. It is especially noticeable with Leroy how much his environment influences him. In quiet, rural areas, he truly comes into his own: there, he appears balanced, relaxed, and can finally find peace. The hectic city life, on the other hand, still overwhelms him at the moment. For Leroy, we wish for a loving home in a more quiet environment – with people who can give him time to settle in, accompany him patiently, and take joy in growing together with him. Leroy is not a perfect dog. But he is a dog with a lot of heart, potential, and the great wish to finally belong somewhere.

DE·Show original

About Leroy

What life with Leroy looks like

Leroy is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leroy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leroy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leroy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leroy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leroy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leroy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leroy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
