Lora

Female

A stray dog named Lora in the forest, one might think - a fox! In her behavior, the medium-sized dog "forest dog" somewhat resembles it, although now, having lived for some time at the shelter "home," she has become more confident to the point where it is clearly visible: she has Siberian roots. Lora's previous owner has died, and the dog used to live together with another barker in a small garden house with all the resulting consequences... When she first arrived at the shelter, Lora was initially shy and cautious towards strangers, but now she has blossomed into an independent, mischievous and communicative dog. Lora can be called a favorite by an active family (without small children in daily life), which is ready to fully socialize and keep the dog occupied. Lora is a bundle of energy - she loves games, wrestling with other dogs and long, active walks. Lora is also a clever girl, and so far her alertness and cunning have not been directed into the bed, which pays off for the owner with a smart and obedient dog. To her people, Lora will stick like a limpet, she adores and loves you, and if trained, will become a true "golden piece." The only thing to note: if you live in a private house, be prepared that this "terrier" is an excellent climber - at first, if the dog gets scared of something, no fence or wall will be an obstacle for her.

About Lora

What life with Lora looks like

Lora is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
