Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Luna is a roughly 9-year-old female dog who has spent her entire previous life in the animal shelter. She lives there peacefully in a small group of older dogs and gets along particularly well with male dogs. At first, Luna can be cautious around new people and unfamiliar situations. She needs time, patience, and sensitive people to help her build trust. Once she feels secure, however, she shows herself to be cooperative, friendly, and becomes more relaxed with closeness and touch. In the last few months, she has already made significant progress—fear has gradually turned into trust. As Luna is unfamiliar with life outside the animal shelter, she is looking for a understanding home where she can arrive in peace. A house with an enclosed garden would be ideal, so she can move freely and explore her surroundings step by step. She still needs to learn to go for walks on a leash, at her own pace. For Luna, we wish for a quiet home without children and with people who can offer her stability, security, and loving encouragement. Luna is a sensitive soul who has known nothing but the animal shelter so far—now she deserves to experience what safety, warmth, and a real home mean.

DE·Show original

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
