Miso

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself!! I am Miso πŸ‘‹ I am 2 years old and originally from Romania. ... Like many young dogs, I am right in the middle of my adolescence: enthusiastic, sensitive, and still busy trying to understand the world. After my arrival in the Netherlands, I ended up with an adopter. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a poor match for me. It was a business setting, and I was on the premises with another dog. For me, that was all very confusing and too busy. I quickly became overstimulated, didn't know what was expected of me, and tried to bite visitors to create distance. After just a week, it was decided that this wasn't working for anyone, and I was transferred to an animal shelter in Oldenzaal. In Oldenzaal, they worked very hard with me and really tried their best, but they hit a wall because my overstimulation kept coming back. That's why I was allowed to move to Het Huis van de Dieren, and that proved to be a turning point for me. Here, there are also many other dogs, and they immediately got to work by first checking why I become overstimulated so quickly and what I need. Intensive work was done with me, with calmness, clarity, and training. That has really helped me. If it's too busy around me, I can still become overstimulated, and sometimes I still need a little help. Now I walk with the pack every day. I am social with other dogs and enjoy playing with anyone who wants to play. People find me just as delightful: volunteers and interns are my favorites. I often come for a cuddle, but I can also do my own thing just fine if that feels better. I love going for walks and walking nicely on a leash, which you can see in the videos. I am a young dog with a backpack, but also with a big heart. With the right guidance, I show how much potential, fun, and sociability there is in me.

Hoi, ik ga me even voorstellen!!

About Miso

What life with Miso looks like

Miso is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Het Huis van de Dieren in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miso, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miso?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Het Huis van de Dieren handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miso on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miso if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Stichting Het Huis van de Dieren will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miso already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miso isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Het Huis van de Dieren early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miso and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
