Mora

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Mora’s story angers even the most peaceful animal welfare workers, it is a tragic example of the cruel people who harm animals. It was one afternoon in a Spanish veterinary clinic when one of our animal rescuers happened to be in the waiting area as a man with a female dog with a completely mutilated head came in. Half of the head and one eye were already completely consumed by maggots, which continued to feed through the head of the suffering female dog, who must have endured unimaginable pain. The owner wanted to put her down once her puppies were old enough. While the mother dog was nursing her puppies, the owner of the female dog did not provide any veterinary care! The veterinarian refused to administer the lethal injection, our animal welfare colleague supported the vet and offered immediate assistance. The two women reported the incident and called the police for help to formally free the weak and severely injured female dog from the man’s abuse. In fact, the police helped and the female dog was seized so that Mora could be operated on. Since Mora’s puppies and another dog are still in the possession of the animal abuser, the police filed a report against the owner to ensure that these animals can also be freed soon. Mora recovered and was able to rest at a foster home of the animal welfare society, even her eye was restored. During the examinations, it was determined that the mixed-breed female dog is Leishmaniasis positive, the disease itself has not yet broken out. Mora is a friendly, cat- and fellow animal-friendly, laid-back female dog. Who will heal Mora’s emotional scars? Please note:

Wer heilt Moras seelische Narben? About Mora

What life with Mora looks like

Mora is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
