Muleta

Galgo Español · Female · Young · 1 year

Muleta is looking for special people. Muleta is one of those dogs whose story is unknown - and yet her look tells everything. Her galguero gave her up in a Spanish animal shelter. What remained was a deeply unsettled dog, full of fear and distrust. It is difficult for her to approach, because she had to learn that humans can also be kind. Muleta is not a dog that happily runs towards someone at first meeting or immediately trusts. She cautiously observes, keeps her distance and initially just tries to find out if she is safe. But whoever takes the time to look more closely, notices the small changes: Every day her gaze becomes a little softer, every day she dares to take a little more step towards trust. Very quietly, without quick miracles - but honestly and touching. In her interactions with other dogs, Muleta shows herself as wonderfully social and gentle. She relies strongly on her companions, finds calm and security through them. Therefore, we are especially hoping for her a home with a confident first dog, whom she can rely on. For Muleta, we are looking for very special people: patient, calm and empathetic, who are not only dazzled by her beautiful appearance. People who understand that trust must grow and that rescue means walking a path together - without expectations and without pressure. She needs space, understanding and the time to arrive at her own pace. Muleta is not looking for pity. She is looking for people who are willing to accompany her on her way into life. And whoever gives her this chance will eventually be able to experience how slowly fear turns into trust - and that might be the greatest gift of all. Contact her adopter if you would like to walk the path with Muleta. Here is Muleta's video.

About Muleta

What life with Muleta looks like

Muleta is a young adult galgo español dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Muleta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Muleta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Muleta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Muleta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Muleta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Muleta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Muleta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
