adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Narvik has found a home! His story: Are you searching for a completely pure, loving, and calm canine soul? Then our sweet Narvik is waiting for you! He looks so golden with his beautiful facial marking, cream-white fur, and brown spot on his rear. And one can immediately recognize from the photos: Narvik is a very sensitive and gentle fur-nose. No go-getter and no ruffian, but a very loving, calm, reserved, social, and also anxious puppy who wants to be guided and empathetically led on his journey. Narvik is very people-oriented and enjoys every affection and petting from his trusted people. Unfortunately, we don't know what he experienced before his rescue, but it's clear that he has a great fear of strangers and especially of strangers of the male kind. Approaching him directly or making large gestures startles him. But he is also very curious. And this trait will greatly help him in overcoming his fears in his development. This is also noticeable with visitors in the foster family: Narvik reacts at first with fear, barks briefly, retreats, but then quickly peeks around the corner with curiosity and dares to come closer. And most importantly: He actively seeks protection with his people in times of uncertainty. Narvik is therefore on a very good path! Living alone with the only dog works already without any problems and Narvik is already house-trained. The cuddly pup understands quickly what is allowed and what is not, because he wants to do everything right. It's important that he is always trained with positive reinforcement. In his forever home, children should already be over 12 years old, because he really has a fear of small children (who wouldn't blame him, since Narvik was found with his siblings near a kindergarten. The children had repeatedly tried to chase the puppies away). A confident, more reserved only dog in the household would certainly help him a lot and provide security. Narvik has a lot of love to give. We are sure that every family with the necessary time will have a lot of joy with him! Narvik can travel to his new home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He packs his EU pet passport in his bag and will travel to a positive Gritt K.! You gave Narvik his name and thus an identity! A big thank you also goes to Steffi S., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Narvik. As of: 24.05.

Stand: 24.05.2024

About Narvik

What life with Narvik looks like

Narvik is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Narvik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Narvik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Narvik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Narvik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Narvik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Narvik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Narvik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
