Nova

Mixed Breed · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Nova had almost no hope when found on the cold ground beside a main road – more dead than alive. It was a last-minute rescue. Our animal welfare workers took the small female dog in immediately and fought to save her life. As Nova slowly began to regain strength, our helpers noticed she was in severe pain. The cause: her thigh was broken. But Nova had good fortune – she could be operated on, and shortly after, this brave little fighter began to walk again. Step by step, she fought her way back to life and showed how strong she really is. Today, Nova is an open, loving, and friendly young female dog who greatly enjoys human proximity. She gets along well with other dogs and even knows cats. Despite everything she has experienced, she has preserved her gentle nature. As can be seen in the photos, Nova actually has beautiful longer fur – currently, she wears her practical "summer haircut." This only makes her more enchanting, and one can immediately recognize her delicate features and loving gaze. Of course, Nova has only known life in the shelter and the stimuli there. Life in a real home, everyday sounds, walks in the city, or relaxed evenings on the sofa are still new to her. Therefore, she seeks people with patience and understanding who will give her the time to settle in and learn about the world. Her name Nova means "Neustern" or "New Beginning" – and no name could be more fitting. For Nova has been given the chance at a new life and is now waiting to begin it with her own family. Nova has fought so hard to be allowed to live. Now, she just needs people who will show her that life is not just about survival, but also about love, security, and safety. Please note:

About Nova

What life with Nova looks like

Nova is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nova, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nova?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nova on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nova if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nova already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nova isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nova and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
