Odie

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Cutie little Odie is a 12-year-old Bichon X Westie in the care of Jerry Green Dog Rescue in East Yorkshire where he is looking for his perfect forever home. Due to the ill health and changing circumstances of his previous owner, they feel they can no longer provide Odie with the walks and activity he still enjoys. Jerry Green are therefore hoping to find him the best possible home. Odie is a very sweet and friendly lad. Still active for a his age, Odie adores going out for walks and has such a zest for life, which he would like his new humans to match. If you love your walks and days out to the beach or countryside, then little Odie would love to keep you company. Odie can live with children aged 11+ and would love a calm and peaceful home with a secure little garden that he can happily mooch around in. He can be left alone for up to 4 hours at a time. Treats are one of his favourite things in life — with a raw carrot being high on the list! He also loves a good game of tug. When he’s not playing, Odie can usually be found snoozing in the sunshine in one of his favourite spots in the garden, or curled up in his little bed indoors. Odie does have a few health issues – he has a heart murmur, but he doesn’t seem to be affected by it at the moment, he is not symptomatic at this time and or on any medication. He does have allergies, but this is currently managed by feeding a grain-free and chicken-free diet and he has a Piriton tablet a day through the spring, summer and autumn months. He also has a couple of lipomas, they are small and don’t affect him, they just need monitoring. Odie is such a wonderful loving boy who is really looking forward to his next chapter in life to begin – could that be with you ? About Odie

What life with Odie looks like

Odie is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
