Oso – reserviert

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Oso is 4 months old – and that is a magical age for little orphans in Spain. Because, after bravely enduring vaccinations, deworming, and the important microchipping, our little world conquerors can travel abroad to their new families with a stylish blue passport. But unfortunately, Oso has no one waiting for him, neither in Spain nor elsewhere. Oso wandered as a small fur ball, hungry and sad, through the streets of a village. Fortunately, the animal welfare workers from El Buen Amigo noticed the lost baby, and so the foundling came into the care of the small animal shelter. Unfortunately, no foster home could be found for him during the spring holidays, but now he lives with a family connection and can wait patiently but eagerly to see where his ticket to great happiness will take him one day. And we simply don't tell him that there are also dogs who have to move back to the animal shelter because no one is interested in them. But you are here, reading this text, already falling in love with the pictures of our little one... that's a promising start. At four months old, Oso is just a clumsy fur ball. But his name, which means bear, suggests that our friends do not expect him to be a Chihuahua or Dachshund mix. When fully grown, Oso will likely be about the size of a German Shepherd (this is an estimate, our foundlings are always surprise eggs!) and will need consistent leadership and loving education. It is also not out of the question that he may have herding dog genes. However, since the Spanish Mastiff shows much less aggression than its Eastern European relatives, what is most important to know is that the large male dog might be a bit selective in listening, not enjoy agility, and find his own garden much more interesting than any outing. Oso currently shows himself as a funny, curious, eager to learn, and especially cuddly pupil who spends most of his time eating and sleeping. If you are sitting in front of your screen with a smile on your face, thinking it would be quite amusing to accompany a clumsy puppy on his inevitable journey through puberty to become a majestic male dog, if you don't care whether Oso finds his greatest joy in the dog park or on the sofa, if you understand a lot about cuddling and loving and maybe have a bit of experience with not-so-small dogs, then you are perfectly suited to give our mini gentleman a forever home. And we are extremely excited to hear from you very soon!

About Oso – reserviert

What life with Oso – reserviert looks like

Oso – reserviert is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oso – reserviert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oso – reserviert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oso – reserviert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oso – reserviert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oso – reserviert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oso – reserviert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oso – reserviert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
