Phönix Breed: Magyar Agár (Mix) Size: ca. 71 cm Born: January 2024 Gender: male dog/neutered Location: Debrecen (Hungary) with dogs? compatible with cats? not house-trained? no Contribution: 450,- Euro Phönix is a charming four-legged charmer. He is a charming Magyar Agár Mix, a breed originally bred as a hunting dog and belonging to the Sighthound group. Born in January 2024, Phönix brings with his approximately 71 cm size both elegance and energy. Phönix was found alone in the forest – without a chip and without further information about his past. But one thing is certain: this dog has a heart of gold. Phönix is an absolute people lover. Indoors, he is quiet and shows his friendly and cuddly side. He loves being close to his human family and enjoys every pat. Outdoors, however, he lives on: With his lively nature, he likes to run and show his boundless joy in life. His leash manners are good, and he enjoys walks. Phönix gets along well with children. His friendly nature makes him an ideal companion for families. However, one should be cautious with cats. Phönix is an agile dog with very loving nature who loves movement. A lovingly consistent home would be ideal for him, especially if it has a very well-fenced garden or property. So Phönix can run around safely and freely and let out his energy. Overall, Phönix is a loving and compatible dog who will be a wonderful companion in the right home. This questionnaire can be found on our homepage www.tierschutz-pfote.de in the respective ad of the dog and can be filled out online.

About Phoenix

What life with Phoenix looks like

Phoenix is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. in Lohmar.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phoenix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phoenix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phoenix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phoenix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phoenix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phoenix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phoenix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
