Piggy

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 5 years

Piggy is a super cheeky and friendly little girl who came to us from a breeder. She is absolutely thriving and has quickly became a firm favourite among both staff, volunteers and now her foster carer. She’s one of those wonderful dogs who gets along with everyone she meets and her affectionate, happy nature really shines through. She loves people and cannot wait to be someone’s special girl. Piggy has settled beautifully into foster and taken home life completely in her stride, even snoozing through the vacuum cleaner! She is confident and relaxed in the home, sleeps quietly overnight in her crate and has quickly become part of the household routine. She absolutely adores human company and actively seeks out fuss and affection from everyone she meets, happily greeting visitors and enjoying playtime and cuddles. Like many Frenchies, Piggy is a true foodie and gets incredibly excited at mealtimes! She takes treats very gently and has recently started enjoying toys too, especially puzzle toys where she gets to sniff out hidden snacks. Piggy walks beautifully on her harness and lead, enjoying steady strolls and lots of sniffs. Although she is usually more of a leisurely stroller, when given the chance to run freely in a secure enclosed area she can absolutely tear around at surprising speed and clearly loves having a good zoomie with her doggy friends! She is currently living happily with both large and small dogs in foster and coexists very well with calm, respectful canine companions. She has also calmly ignored horses she’s seen while in foster care. She cannot live with cats or small furries and will try to chase cats on walks. Although Piggy had never lived in a home before coming into foster, she has adapted incredibly well and is already making great progress with house training. She is clean overnight in her crate and is learning a good routine for toileting outside, although she may still have the occasional accident while she continues to learn. In the right home, Piggy could happily live as an only dog soaking up all the attention, or she could be homed with another kind resident dog. She could also live with older, dog-savvy children who understand the importance of giving her time and space to settle. Piggy arrived with chronic otitis and has been receiving treatment. Her external ear has become thickened due to prolonged inflammation that was likely left untreated, and she has had polyps removed. She also has a Grade 2–3 heart murmur, which will need to be monitored in her new home for any future treatment that may be required. Despite this, she takes everything in her stride and continues to be her happy, loving self. Piggy is a wonderful little lady with a big personality packed into her petite frame, and in the right home she will make a loving, loyal, and endlessly joyful companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Piggy

What life with Piggy looks like

Piggy is a large adult english bulldog dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
