Pixie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

foster home in Dortmund The little Pixie (born 05.04.2025) did not have an easy start in life. Together with her mother and her sister, she was found on the streets of Bosnia and brought to safety by dedicated animal protectors at a dog shelter in Sarajevo. Now, Pixie has great fortune: she gets to move to a loving foster home in Dortmund and discover life as a family dog step by step. With her shoulder height of approximately 33 cm, Pixie is a manageable, cheerful young female dog who zips through life with great enthusiasm. She is curious, playful, friendly, and open-minded—a typical young dog with a lot of charm and a spirit of discovery. – gets along well with other dogs – is people-oriented, cuddly, and open – lives with a cat that is experienced with dogs (the cat is ignored – but chasing cats finds her exciting) – is learning to live in a house, take a dog 1×1 class, and walk on a leash She brings everything a young family dog needs: a loving nature, a willingness to learn, social compatibility with others, and a lot of potential to become a wonderful companion. Pixie wishes for a loving home with people who: – give her time to settle in – teach her patience, structure, and security – enjoy showing the world to a young dog – have a desire for shared adventures, learning, cuddling, and bonding She is ideal for people who are ready to take on responsibility and give a young dog a stable start in life. If you are seriously interested, she can be visited and met upon prior arrangement. All our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and come with an international pet passport. Pflegestelle in Dortmund Die kleine Pixie (geb. 05.04.2025) hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben. About Pixie

What life with Pixie looks like

Pixie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
