adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Safety & Peace Sought: 5.5-year-old, trainable mixed-breed male dog seeks an experienced, child-free home. We seek a new beginning for our 63 cm tall and 30 kg heavy, neutered mixed-breed male dog with people who can give him safety and peace, which he unfortunately cannot find in our turbulent daily life with a toddler. Character: Sensitive fearful dog: He is not an active attacker, but a dog driven by insecurity. Communicative: He shows his discomfort very clearly through barking, growling, retreating, and calming signals. Need for safety: He needs a clear management (like his "Safe Space"/box) to calm down. Needs guidance: He is not a dog who can regulate himself in chaotic situations. Strengths: Learns quickly: Shows itself to be very eager to learn and masters basic commands. Social: Generally friendly to other dogs outside, reads the body language of the opposite party very carefully. Clearly readable: Sends clear signals, provided the person can read body language. Calm in noise (under conditions): Can relax if he feels safe and undisturbed. Weaknesses / Work in progress: Past: Has already bitten or snapped at hands when he felt cornered and his calming/warning signals were ignored. Not a family dog: Overwhelmed by the chaos (especially children); only finds peace in the day-to-day life by being confined in the box. Territorial: Shows territorial behavior. Strength: With his 30 kg, the handler must be physically capable of holding him safely. Alone: Being alone is not yet a solid state and must be built up step-by-step. All in all, he is a faithful, eager-to-learn partner for dog-experienced people (ideally 1-2 individuals) who can offer him the necessary sovereignty, an absolutely quiet retreat, and a child-free home. He is a dog who seeks security and stability through honest guidance. If interested, please contact Alina Meyer directly. As of April 24.

Sicherheit & Ruhe gesucht: 5,5 Jahre alter, lernwilliger Mischlingsrüde sucht erfahrenes, kinderfreies Zuhause.

About Ray

What life with Ray looks like

Ray is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ray, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ray?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ray on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ray if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ray already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ray isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ray and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
