Romeo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Good day! I'm Romeo! As I couldn't be cared for anymore, I was brought to the animal shelter. I am a friendly, eager-to-learn, and open young male dog. I show myself to be very snuggly and clingy with people I trust. Unfortunately, my upbringing was very neglected, so I still have a lot to learn. When I came here, I also pulled strongly on the leash, but I have quickly learned to be well-behaved on the leash. "No" was probably my second name at one point, but I was never shown how to behave properly, so I often get frustrated because I only ever get told what I shouldn't do and I don't recognize myself anymore. But I am still young, intelligent, very eager to please, and am making huge progress here at the animal shelter – together, we will definitely get through this, don't you think? I am not compatible with cats, and with dogs, it depends on their affinity. Health-wise, I show no issues. I am looking for a family that already has experience with puberting young dogs and who would like to care for me with patience, love, and consistency. Small children should not live in the same household. If you would like to give me a home, please contact this breed animal shelter!

Dein Romeo

About Romeo

What life with Romeo looks like

Romeo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romeo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romeo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romeo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romeo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romeo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romeo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romeo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
