Summer is a medium-sized 10-year-old Crossbreed (staffie x terrier). She is in the care of RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre near Taunton in Somerset. Sweet Summer has so much love to give! She adores people and quickly forms strong, loyal bonds. Summer is very sociable with other dogs and will happily say hello to anyone; she does, however, prefer a more relaxed, older canine companion. Having spent time in a foster home, Summer has shown how much she enjoys home comforts, especially snoozing on the sofa and receiving cuddles. She could live with teenage children and another dog, provided it is the right match. She needs a home with someone around most of the time. Summer can become anxious when left alone, even for short periods, and so her adopters will need to be prepared to work through this gradually and patiently, helping her feel safe and secure over time. She also becomes anxious during car journeys. West Hatch have been trying different methods to see what suits her best and have found that she is most comfortable travelling in a crate. However, she will need continued support with this, and it is possible she may never feel fully comfortable travelling, so adopters should bear this in mind. Summer has also needed some help with house training in her foster home and will need support to continue this in her new home. Summer has skin allergies that are kept under control with daly Prednisolone. She also has a fatty lump on the inside of her thigh. Summer is an incredibly clever and capable dog who responds well to the right guidance. West Hatch believe that Summer will thrive with a patient, warm-hearted adopter who can help her build confidence at her own pace.
