Trian

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Name of the Dog: Trian. Gender: male dog, neutered. Breed: Mischling Age: 4 (06.03.2021) Size/Weight: large - shoulder height 62cm, 33kg. Color and Fur Condition: blond, long-haired Character: Trian is a playful, mischievous puppy, in the body of a large dog. He is very curious, wants to be everywhere, but needs clear guidance and commands there. Towards strangers, he is initially open but does not want to be pressured, then reacts fearfully and often regulates his situation with aggressive behavior, which has already led to some biting incidents. Accordingly, he needs experienced people who can read him. He is an energy bundle and is very talented when it comes to commands, tricks, and various search games. He learns quickly and eagerly. Our dog has a very big heart, but also big fears. He needs people who give him time, love, and security so that he can regain trust. Unfortunately, we cannot give him this attention to the extent that he deserves due to our professional commitments and everyday life. Therefore, we wish for him a loving home where there is enough time and understanding for his needs. Origin and Background: Trian spent his first year of life together with his sister on a farm in the Kette. The farmer gave the two to the animal shelter due to a stomach-intestinal illness, where they were both well cared for. There he spent another half year until he came to us in Germany. Now he has lived with us for 3 years. Health: Health Condition: no illnesses or limitations Vaccination Status: regularly vaccinated Deworming: regularly dewormed Handling…: with other dogs: good, dominant… with cats: good, only rarely tried… with children: only rarely tried Housebroken: yes Alone: in a familiar environment, no problem Leash: well, with clear commands. This animal was surrendered to the shelter. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Trian

What life with Trian looks like

Trian is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
