Willow

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

A Willow was abandoned at the door of our shelter on a rainy night in October 2024. She spent hours inside a carrier, alone, in the cold and darkness. This was how her family chose to leave her when she needed them most. Willow is not young, she was born in 2016 and requires daily medication. She arrived weak, debilitated, with vision problems, difficulties with one of her front paws, and needing daily medication. Over time, with love and care, she recovered. Today, Willow is blind. Both eyes were removed, and yet she still trusts. It's impossible not to wonder how someone could have abandoned her. Because Willow is an extraordinary cat!!! We don't want her remaining years to be spent in a cage, no matter how much love we try to give. She deserves a home, a calm routine, a couch, a familiar voice. And at the same time, finding a family for Willow means making space to help another animal that we are currently unable to accommodate. PT·Show original

Hoje, a Willow é cega. About Willow

What life with Willow looks like

Willow is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Associacao Midas in Portugal.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associacao Midas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associacao Midas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associacao Midas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
