En su anterior hogar, Madge a menudo era mantenida separada, ya que había otros perros en la propiedad y el dueño no se sentía cómodo mezclándolos, y tampoco se sentía capaz de pasear a Madge, por lo que tenía pocos paseos y ejercicio. A pesar de sus limitadas experiencias en la vida, Madge es una verdadera dulzura. Incluso en sus años más avanzados, sigue siendo muy activa y energética. Le encanta los abrazos y las atenciones y incluso durante un paseo, se tumba sobre su espalda y rueda esperando obtener caricias en el vientre. Es muy juguetona y divertida y no puedes evitar sonreír cuando estás con ella. Puede ser bastante fuerte en la correa, especialmente al salir y al regresar al recinto. Camina bien pero a veces "pone freno". Debido a la falta de paseos en su anterior hogar, creemos que es solo un hábito y hemos tenido algunos excelentes paseos en caminos locales cerca del refugio con ella. A pesar de su dulce naturaleza, ya que pesa 31 kg, Madge es bastante difícil de manejar, por lo que puede no ser adecuada para una casa con niños pequeños. Niños mayores y experimentados con perros serían una mejor opción para Madge. Durante su tiempo en el refugio, se ha socializado muy bien con algunos de nuestros otros perros en el lugar, tanto grandes como pequeños. Camina muy bien junto a otros perros y puede jugar con ellos en campos abiertos sin correa. Es muy buena leyendo situaciones sociales y puede calmar a un perro demasiado entusiasta y hacerse más accesible para un perro más pequeño y tímido. Puede que sea más adecuada para ser el único perro en la casa, sin embargo, con las debidas presentaciones, podría ser rehomed con otro perro de tamaño similar. Madge ha tenido algunos problemas de piel, con un poco de dolor en la base de su cola, con limpieza suave y medicación, esto se ha resuelto en su mayoría, sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que puede necesitar monitoreo/tratamiento ocasional para esto. Está vacunada y actualizada con su tratamiento contra pulgas y gusanos. Ha tenido trabajo dental realizado por nosotros y se ha recuperado bien; los resultados no han afectado en absoluto su alimentación (ella está muy interesada en todas sus comidas y snacks). Madge necesita un hogar amoroso para vivir sus años dorados. Está entrenada en casa, siempre mantiene su cama ordenada y su rostro se ilumina cuando ve a sus personas favoritas. In her previous home, Madge was often kept separate, as there were other dogs in the property that the owner wasn’t comfortable mixing together and she also didn’t feel she was capable of walking Madge so she had very limited walks and exercise. Despite her limited experiences in life, Madge is an absolute sweetheart. Even in her older years, she is full of energy and very active. She loves a cuddle and fuss and even during the middle of a walk, will flop onto her back and roll around hoping to get some belly rubs. She is super cheeky and fun and you can’t help but smile when you’re with her. She can initially be strong on the lead particularly when leaving and coming back on site. She walks well but can sometimes “put the breaks on”. Due to her lack of walking in the previous home, we think it is just habit and we have had some great walks on local paths near the rescue with her. Despite her sweet nature, as she weighs in at 31kg, Madge is a lot to manage so may not be suitable in a home for younger children. Older, dog-savvy children would be a better fit for Madge. During her time in rescue, she has socialised really well with some of our other dogs on site, both big and small. She walks really well alongside other dogs and can play with them in open fields on and off lead. She is great at reading social situations and can calm down an over excitable dog and make herself more approachable for a smaller, more timid dog. She may be more suited to being the only dog in the home however with the right introductions; she could potentially be rehomed with another dog of a similar size. Madge has had some skin issues, with a little bit of soreness at the base of her tail, with some gentle wiping and cleaning alongside some medication this has mostly cleared up however, please be aware she may need occasional monitoring/treatment for this. She is vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worm treatment. She has had dental work carried out with us and has recovered well; the results have not affected her eating at all (she’s very keen for all her meals and treats). Madge needs a loving home to live out her golden years. She is house trained, always keeps her bed tidy and her face lights up when she sees her favourite people.
