VETERINARY CARE AND HEALTH: In good health. REASON FOR REMOVAL OR ADOPTION: Poor living conditions. CHARACTER: Poly is a lively girl who loves to eat and sleep. She comes to find her family to snack and run a little in the enclosure. She is close to humans, and during playtime, she is always by her family's side, waiting politely for a little something to eat. This big glutton charm you? Come meet her in her foster family! PLACEMENT CONDITIONS: A yard of about 500m². There must be a hay shed. In winter, the pig must be able to make a den with hay to stay warm. Pigs have little hair and get cold. An ideal shelter is a garden shed, isolated, with an enclosure inside where the animal can be covered in hay. There must be no steps, the shed must be at ground level. They destroy everything and dig, it's instinctive for them, so don't be too meticulous because the ground will be a pile of dirt. A very sturdy fence or an electric fence is needed. Pigs also need a wallow (a permanently wet area, mud based on clay) to roll in to protect themselves from the sun (pigs don't sweat) and parasites. There must be a shaded area, the sun is very dangerous for pigs, even black. Don't hesitate to hydrate the skin with natural products. Pigs need to be dewormed twice a year. Hooves need to be trimmed. The diet should consist of horse pellets, moistened with an addition of fresh fruits and vegetables, a drizzle of canola oil, and cereals. One-third of the fruits should be compared to the vegetables, and avoid overly sweet fruits. For vegetables, balance: cooked potatoes (otherwise they are toxic), lentils, and carrots for a good balance. Try to make very balanced bowls to avoid weight gain that can lead to serious health problems. They must have hay available if there is no more grass in their yard. Dry kibble for dogs or cats is not at all suitable. A vegetarian diet is ideal. Chocolate and salt are toxic for pigs. The meal can be served in a bowl filled with pebbles or plastic balls to make them eat more slowly. Pigs get bored, so it is imperative for them to live with one or more other animals of the same species. A ball or branches will make excellent playthings for them. Elle vient chercher sa famille pour grignoter et courir un peu dans l’enclos. Proche de l’humain, pendant le bricolage elle est toujours aux côtés de sa famille et attend gentiment un petit quelque chose à manger. Cette grande gourmande vous charme ? Venez la rencontrer dans sa famille d’accueil ! CONDITIONS DE PLACEMENT : Terrain d’environ 500m2. Il doit y avoir une cabane avec de la paille. En hiver, le cochon doit pouvoir se faire une grotte avec la paille pour avoir chaud. Les cochons ont peu de poils et ont froid. L’idéal est un abri de jardin, isolé, avec un enclos à l’intérieur où l’animal peut se recouvrir de paille. Il ne faut surtout pas de marches, la cabane doit être au même niveau que le sol. Ils détruisent tout et creusent, c’est instinctif chez eux, il ne faut donc pas être maniaque car le terrain sera un amas de terre. Il faut une clôture très solide ou une clôture électrique. Les cochons ont également besoin d’une soue (endroit en permanence humide, boue à base d’argile) pour se rouler dedans afin de se protéger du soleil (un cochon ne sue pas) et des parasites. Il faut un endroit ombragé, le soleil est très dangereux pour les cochons, même noirs. Il ne faut pas hésiter à hydrater la peau avec des produits naturels. Les cochons ont besoin d’être vermifugés deux fois par an. Les onglons sont à parer. L'alimentation devra être constituée de granulés pour chevaux humidifiés avec un apport en fruits et légumes frais, un filet d’huile de colza et des céréales. Il faut 1/3 de fruits par rapport aux légumes et éviter les fruits trop sucrés. Pour les légumes, il faut équilibrer : pomme de terre (cuites sinon c’est toxique), lentilles et carottes pour un bon équilibre. Il faut essayer de faire des gamelles très équilibrées afin d’éviter un excès de poids pouvant entraîner de graves problèmes de santé. Ils doivent avoir du foin à volonté s'il n'y a plus d’herbe dans leur parc. Les croquettes pour chiens ou chats ne sont pas du tout adaptées. Une nourriture végétarienne est l’idéal. Le chocolat et le sel sont toxiques pour les cochons. Le repas peut être versé dans une boîte remplie de cailloux ou de boules plastiques afin qu’ils mangent plus lentement. Le cochon s’ennuie, il est donc impératif pour lui de vivre avec un ou plusieurs congénères. Un ballon ou des branchages feront d'excellents jeux pour eux.
