Topps è arrivata da noi da un allevatore e, all'inizio, era una bambina molto preoccupata e chiusa. Tutto era sovraccarico per lei e il contatto umano le faceva molta paura, perché non aveva ancora capito come potessero essere dolci e amorevoli le mani. Con il tempo, la pazienza e la gentilezza, Topps ha iniziato a sbocciare e ha già fatto grandi progressi. Dalla sua abitudine di abbaiare al suo "mamma" e di voler poco a che fare con le persone, ora si sente a suo agio seduta vicino, prendendo cibo, facendo dolci spintoni con il naso e anche condividendo piccoli baci. Ha recentemente iniziato ad accettare dolci grattini alle orecchie quando si sente coraggiosa, un grande passo per lei! Topps si è ora trasferita in una famiglia di accoglienza, dove sta imparando tutto sulla vita in casa e nuove competenze come l'addestramento all'uso del bagno per la prima volta. A casa, è ancora un po' nervosa mentre si abitua al nuovo ambiente. Nonostante questo, passerà del tempo nella stessa stanza dei suoi curatori, seguirà felicemente per il cibo o per uscire fuori, e si sentirà comoda muovendosi in tutta la casa. Anche se si avvicina ai suoi curatori con l'incoraggiamento del suo amico canino o con l'aiuto di un premio, a volte eviterà il contatto ravvicinato. Tuttavia, è ancora molto contenta e guida la coda e acquisisce fiducia dai suoi amici pelosi. Topps ha ancora un lungo cammino da fare e necessiterà di una casa con adulti esperti dove possa continuare a costruire la sua fiducia a suo ritmo. Deve avere almeno un cane gentile e sicuro, che svolgerà un ruolo importante nel mostrarle come comportarsi e aiutarla a sentirsi al sicuro. Un giardino sicuro è essenziale per lei, mentre continua a imparare a camminare con la guinzaglio e l'addestramento all'uso del bagno. Topps tollera di essere manipolata per ispezioni o per metterle la pettorina, ma è cauta e ha bisogno di un tocco lento e rassicurazione. Questa dolce ragazza potrebbe essere preoccupata all'inizio nella sua nuova casa, ma con pazienza, rassicurazione e amore, ha ogni possibilità di svilupparsi ulteriormente diventando il cane felice e soddisfatto che era destinata ad essere. Topps ha già dimostrato cosa è in grado di fare; ora ha solo bisogno di qualcuno che le dia una possibilità e le offra la casa permanente che tanto merita. Il nostro veterinario ha notato un leggero scatto nella sua articolazione della coscia sinistra durante l'esame. Questo al momento non le causa alcun disagio e non richiede trattamenti in questo momento, ma potrebbe necessitare di monitoraggio in futuro. Consigliamo di prestare attenzione a salti eccessivi su e giù dai mobili o altri movimenti bruschi. Esercizi delicati per aiutare a costruire e mantenere i muscoli, come passeggiare in controllo e salire e scendere dai marciapiedi, saranno benefici. Topps arrived with us from a breeder and, at first, was an extremely worried and shut-down little girl. Everything was overwhelming for her, and she found human contact very frightening, as she didn’t yet understand how gentle and loving hands could be. With time, patience, and kindness, Topps has started to blossom and has already made such wonderful progress. From barking at her kennel mummy and wanting little to do with people, she now feels comfortable sitting close, taking treats, giving sweet nose nudges, and even sharing little kisses. She has recently begun to accept gentle ear tickles when she is feeling brave, a huge step for her! Topps has now moved to a foster home, where she is starting to learn all about home life and new skills like house training for the first time. In the home, she is still a little nervous as she adjusts to her new environment. Despite this, she will spend time in the same room as her carers, happily follow for food or to venture outside, and is comfortable moving throughout the home. Although she approaches her carers with encouragement from her canine friend or the help of a treat, she will avoid close contact at times. However, she is still very waggy-tailed and really gains confidence from her furry friends. Topps still has a way to go and will need an experienced, adult-only home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She must have at least one kind and confident resident dog, who will play an important role in showing her the ropes and helping her feel safe. A secure garden is essential for her as she continues to learn about lead walking and house training. Topps will tolerate being handled for check overs or to have her harness put on, but she is wary and needs slow handling and reassurance. This lovely girl may be worried at first in her new home, but with patience, reassurance, and love, she has every chance of blossoming further into the happy, content little dog she was always meant to be. Topps has already shown us what she is capable of; now she just needs someone to take a chance on her and give her the forever home she so truly deserves. Our vet has noted a slight click in her left stifle joint on palpation. This is not currently causing her any discomfort and does not require treatment at this time, but it may need monitoring in the future. We recommend being mindful of excessive jumping on and off furniture or other jarring movements. Gentle exercises to help build and maintain muscle, such as controlled walking and stepping up and down kerbs, will be beneficial. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
