Animal shelter La Huella Verde Olvera: Update February 26, 2026: Fifi has been with us since she was a playful and active pup. She has been with us for more than four years and we don't understand why she hasn't found a new home yet. She is still active, although less than a pup, but she loves to play and run. She is very obedient and knows how to be calm. She gets along well with other dogs, both males and females, small and large, but she is not compatible with cats. She walks very well on a leash and is not afraid of people; she is very cheerful. She has a strong prey drive, but indoors she is very quiet and obedient. She can live with other dogs, but can also be the only dog in the house. Regarding her health, she tested positive for leishmania and negative for all other diseases. It's important to mention that Podencos are quite resistant to leishmania and that she only has antibodies, but no symptoms. Therefore, she does not need medication or a special diet, only blood tests. Her antibody level is 1/160, which is the lowest possible level, since anything below that is not considered positive. We hope she finds a loving home soon! + New photos added. Update July 3, 2025: Fifi is doing well at the animal shelter, but it's a shame that she has to wait so long for a new owner. She was always an extremely active dog, but now that she is older, she has become a bit more clingy and submissive. She doesn't get along well with cats, but she does with other dogs (both males and females). Fiffy is very kind and obedient towards people and playful with children. + New photos added. Update April 22, 2024: Great news for Fifi... she is Leishmania negative!!! and also negative for all other diseases. Overall, she is doing well. Fifi is funny, obedient, walks very well on a leash, loves to play with the ball, with other dogs, and comes when you call her. Fifi is active in playing, but calm at home and loves cuddles and kisses. It's time that Fifi also finds her own loving family, who will give her the chance for her own warm bed! New video added. Update March 11, 2023: When we rescued Fifi, she was very young and therefore also very active. She has been with us in the animal shelter for more than one year now and during this time she has calmed down a bit. She is now much calmer and more obedient. Fifi is friendly with all dogs but especially with people. She loves to play with a ball. She can live with cats, but she is curious about them when she sees them, but it's good if she smells them once. Fifi walks very well on a leash, she likes to walk in nature and is playful with children. Regarding her health, she currently has questionable values for leishmania. She has the lowest titer possible and therefore no medication is needed, because she is not positive, she just needs regular checks to ensure these values do not increase. Good food and a strong immune system should be sufficient. Fifi can lead a completely normal life, since she is not positive for leishmania, she simply has some antibodies (1/40) and her values can become negative at any time. Fifi is still patiently waiting for that one loving family that has a lovely warm bed ready for her. 11 new photos and video added. Input April 17, 2022: Fifi was wandering alone on the edge of town, she was looking for food. She was very young, probably still a pup but luckily she was not afraid, so as soon as we called her, she came to us. Fifi was very hungry and also wanted to be petted a lot. She was brought to the animal shelter, where she gets along well with everyone and plays a lot, although she is dominant when it comes to food. Fifi is very active, she is still a young dog and has a lot of energy. Her ideal family would be a family that goes out a lot with her for long walks in nature. It is not necessary that there is another dog in the house, but if the family already has another dog, that is no problem because Fifi can live perfectly with that dog if it is not dominant. Fifi is very kind and not afraid. With other dogs she is very playful and can get along with anyone, both males and females, and it doesn't matter if they are big or small. Fifi is not submissive, she prefers to be equal

Asiel La Huella Verde Olvera: Update 26 februari 2026: Fifi is al bij ons sinds ze een speelse en actieve pup was. Ze woont al meer dan vier jaar bij ons en we snappen niet waarom ze nog geen nieuw thuis heeft gevonden. Ze is nog steeds actief, hoewel iets minder dan een pup, maar ze is dol op spelen en rennen. Ze is erg gehoorzaam en weet hoe ze rustig moet worden. Ze kan goed overweg met andere honden, zowel mannetjes als vrouwtjes, klein en groot, maar ze is niet compatibel met katten. Ze loopt heel goed aan de lijn en is niet bang voor mensen; ze is erg vrolijk. Ze heeft een jachtinstinct, maar binnenshuis is ze heel rustig en gehoorzaam. Ze kan samenleven met andere honden, maar kan ook de enige hond in huis zijn. Wat haar gezondheid betreft, is ze positief getest op leishmania en negatief op alle andere ziekten. Het is belangrijk om te vermelden dat Podenco's vrij resistent zijn tegen leishmania en dat ze alleen antistoffen heeft, maar geen symptomen. Daarom heeft ze geen medicatie of speciaal dieet nodig, alleen bloedonderzoek. Haar antistofniveau is 1/160, wat het laagst mogelijke niveau is, aangezien alles daaronder niet als positief wordt beschouwd. Update 3 juli 2025: Het gaat goed met Fifi in het asiel, maar het is wel jammer dat ze zo lang moet wachten op een nieuw baasje. Ze was altijd een erg actieve hond, maar nu ze wat ouder wordt is ze wat aanhankelijker en onderdaniger geworden. Ze kan niet goed met katten, maar wel met andere honden (zowel reuen als teefjes). Fiffy is heel lief en gehoorzaam naar mensen en speels met kinderen. + Nieuwe foto's toegevoegd. Update 22 april 2024: Er is geweldig nieuws voor Fifi….ze is Leishmania negatief!!! en ook voor alle andere ziektes is ze negatief. Over het algemeen gaat het dus goed met haar. Fifi is grappig, gehoorzaam, loopt heel goed aan de lijn, speelt graag met de bal, met andere honden en ze komt als je haar roept. Fifi is actief in het spelen, maar rustig in huis en ze houdt van knuffels en kusjes. Het wordt tijd dat ook Fifi haar eigen lieve familie vindt, wie geeft haar de kans op een eigen warme mandje! Nieuwe video toegevoegd. Update 11 maart 2023: Toen we Fifi redden was ze erg jong en daarom ook nog erg actief. Ze zit nu al meer dan 1 jaar bij ons in het asiel en gedurende deze tijd is ze al een beetje gekalmeerd. Ze is nu veel rustiger en gehoorzamer. Fifi is vriendelijk met alle honden maar vooral ook met mensen. Ze vindt het heerlijk om met een balletje te spelen. Ze kan samenleven met katten, maar ze is wel nieuwsgierig naar ze is als ze ze ziet, maar het is goed als ze even aan ze heeft geroken. Fifi loopt heel goed mee aan de riem, ze wandelt graag in de natuur en is speels met kinderen. Wat haar gezondheid betreft, ze heeft momenteel twijfelachtige waarden voor leishmania. Ze heeft de laagst mogelijke titter en dus geen medicatie nodig, omdat ze niet positief is, ze heeft alleen een regelmatige controle nodig dat deze waarden niet stijgen. Goed eten en een sterk immuunsysteem zouden voldoende moeten zijn. Fifi kan een volkomen normaal leven leiden, aangezien ze niet positief is voor leishmania, ze heeft gewoon wat antilichamen bij zich (1/40) en haar waardes kunnen op elk moment negatief worden. Fifi wacht nog steeds vol ongeduld op die ene lieve familie die een heerlijk warm mandje voor haar klaar hebben staan. 11 nieuwe foto's en video toegevoegd. Input 17 april 2022: Fifi zwierf alleen rond aan de rand van de stad, ze was op zoek naar voedsel. Ze was heel jong, waarschijnlijk nog een pup maar gelukkig was ze niet bang, dus zodra we haar riepen kwam ze naar ons toe. Fifi had veel honger en wilde ook heel graag aangehaald worden. Ze is naar het asiel gebracht, waar ze met iedereen goed kan opschieten en graag speelt hoewel ze wel dominant is met eten. Fifi is erg actief, ze is nog een jonge hond en heeft veel energie. Haar ideale familie zou een familie zijn die veel met haar op pad gaat voor lange wandelingen in de natuur. Het is niet nodig dat er een andere hond in huis is, maar als de familie al een andere hond heeft is dat geen probleem want Fifi kan perfect met die hond samenleven als die niet dominant is. Fifi is erg lief en niet bang. Met andere honden is ze erg speels en ze kan met iedereen overweg, zowel met reuen als met teven, en het maakt niet uit of ze groot of klein zijn. Fifi is niet onderdanig, ze is graag gelijkwaardig aan andere honden, dus Fifi is geen dominante hond maar ze wil ook niet dat andere honden haar domineren. Met katten is ze niet getest. Fifi is vrolijk, grappig, speels, lief... ze is dol op mensen, met een bal spelen en kinderen. We hopen dat dit lieve meisje snel haar forever plekje vindt, ze kan niet wachten om haar spulletjes te pakken en naar haar nieuwe familie te gaan!
