Meet Poet, a beautiful soul with a story that deserves a happy ending. Arriving in our care as an unclaimed stray, Poet was understandably extremely shy and worried, and was also struggling with a uncomfortable eye condition that had sadly been left untreated. Like any good poem, Poet takes a little time to unfold. With patience, kindness, and plenty of tasty treats, she has slowly started to trust her handlers and has formed lovely bonds with her favourite people. Once you’re in Poet’s inner circle, you’ll discover a gentle, affectionate girl with a wonderfully sweet nature. As she continues to settle, we’re beginning to see her confidence blossom. Poet has discovered the joy of playtime with her toys and loves nothing more than a peaceful wander around our woodland walks, taking in all the sights and sniffs at her own pace. Poet enjoys the company of calm and respectful dogs and this really helps her to build her confidence, she will therefore need a canine companion in her new home. More excitable dogs can feel a little overwhelming for this sensitive girl, so she’s looking for a home with a gentle rhythm rather than a busy chorus. Due to her shy nature, Poet would be happiest in a calm, understanding home without young children. If children are present in the home they will need to be aged 14+ and be able to recognise when she may need a little space and appreciate that she’ll need time to settle into new surroundings. This lovely girl may not be the loudest voice in the room, but for the family willing to give her time, patience, and love, Poet is sure to write the most beautiful new chapter.Apply to adopt Published: 20th May, 2026 Updated: 3rd June, 2026 Author: Katrina Hyde This is a practical, care-focused role centred on maintaining clean, safe, and supportive environments for dogs.
