The only company, Blechy, bit her from her weak, withered body, drawing blood. Poor Vidlička was terribly infested and had a strong infection in her body. She constantly had a runny nose and one eye. The other eye was left with just non-functional remnants. It was likely that a herpes virus had entered her and the eye gradually became completely blind… We will do everything to help Vidlička get back on her feet and finally see the nicer side of the world. She had already undergone treatment at the vet, where she received antibiotics and after a few days looked a little better. She also had a huge appetite for food. Given how emaciated she was, it was no wonder. It was quite possible that she experienced a full belly for the first time in her life with us. Vidlička gained some weight over the course of a few weeks in our care, has more energy, likes to play, and is affectionate. Unfortunately, she still couldn't get rid of the scar. She had been on antibiotics for a few weeks and also received regular Vincentka inhalations for a while, which were supposed to help clear her airways. Thanks to this, the situation improved a little, but Vidlička still wasn't fully healed. The doctor's lady therefore recommended that we let her have an X-ray of her head and lungs and also a rhinoscopy, during which a specialist would examine her nose with a camera. We took Vidlička for a rhinoscopy and CT scan. We felt prepared for anything – in the worst-case scenario, we were waiting for a tumor to be found in her nose, like with Nina, who had also struggled with chronic scarring for a long time. What the doctor revealed next was something we never could have imagined in our worst dreams… Vidlička's body was ravaged by an extremely aggressive infection that had eaten a large part of her skull. It affected her nasal septum, part of her face, one ear… Her entire head had changed shape as a result. The infection even reached her lungs, which were also damaged. The doctor was in complete shock. He said he had never encountered anything like it… It probably all started in the eye that Vidlička was missing from the moment she came to us. The bad news is that there is no way to repair the damage the infection caused. Vidlička has been on a three-month course of antibiotics in addition to that – and even that didn't stop the infection…

Jedinou společnost Vidličce dělaly blechy, které ze slabého vychrtlého tělíčka vysávaly krev. Chuděrka byla příšerně zahleněná a v těle jí řádil silný zánět. Neustále jí teklo z nosu i jednoho očička. Z druhého oka zůstaly už jen nefunkční zbytky. Nejspíš se do něj dostal herpesvirus a očičko postupně úplně vyhnisalo… Uděláme vše pro to, aby se Vidlička dala do pořádku a konečně poznala i tu hezčí stránku světa. Už má za sebou ošetření na veterině, kde dostala antibiotika a po pár dnech začala vypadat o něco lépe. Taky měla obrovskou chuť k jídlu. Vzhledem k tomu, jak byla chuděrka vychrtlá, se nebylo čemu divit. Bylo dost možné, že pocit plného bříška u nás zažila poprvé v životě. Vidlička během několika týdnů v naší péči hezky přibrala, má víc energie, ráda si hraje a mazlí se. Bohužel se jí ale pořád nedaří zbavit rýmy. Několik týdnů měla nasazená antibiotika a nějakou dobu dostávala také pravidelně inhalovat Vincentku, která měla pomoct dutiny uvolnit. Díky tomu se situace sice trochu zlepšila, ale úplně se Vidlička stále neuzdravovala. Paní doktorka proto doporučila, abychom jí po dobrání léků raději nechali udělat rentgeny hlavy a plic a také rhinoskopii, při které se specialista podívá do nosu kamerkou. Vzali jsme Vidličku na rhinoskopii a CT vyšetření. Měli jsme pocit, že jsme připravení na všechno – v nejhorším scénáři jsme čekali, že se v nose najde nádor podobně jako u Niny, která se také dlouho potýkala s chronickou rýmou. To, co pan doktor nakonec odhalil, nás nenapadlo ani v tom nejhorším snu… Vidličce v těle zuřil extrémně agresivní zánět, který jí sežral velkou část lebky. Zasáhlo to nosní přepážku, část tváře, jedno ucho… Celá hlava v důsledku změnila tvar. Zánět se dostal dokonce až do plic, která jsou taky poškozená. I pan doktor byl úplně v šoku. Říkal, že s něčím takovým se ještě nesetkal… Všechno to nejspíš začalo v oku, které Vidličce úplně chybělo už v okamžiku, kdy k nám přišla. Špatná zpráva je, že neexistuje žádný způsob, jak škody, které zánět napáchal, opravit. Vidlička má za sebou navíc už tříměsíční léčbu antibiotiky – a ani to zánět nezarazilo…
