Bob is an active and lively Jack Russell Terrier; he does have a feisty side, showing typical Terrier traits and has boundless energy to spare. Bob is going to be a project dog due to his complex behavioural needs that will require ongoing training and management so he is not going to be your typical family companion. He is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor. He would love a family that can offer him an enjoyable and active lifestyle. He particularly enjoys using his nose and taking in all the interesting smells and enjoying his surroundings. As Bob likes keeping himself busy and learning new things, he may enjoy being involved in activities such as scent work, which can be a wonderful way to channel his natural instincts and keep his mind engaged. Bob is also a real water lover! We have seen him happily paddling and swimming in shallow pools, which is something he thoroughly enjoys. Any family who enjoys outdoor adventures and doesn't mind a muddy splash or two is sure to have a wonderful companion in Bob. In his previous home, Bob has shown some resource guarding behaviours around certain items, including his toys, with both adults and children. For this reason, we feel that a calm, adult-only environment will give Bob the best opportunity to thrive. He currently has some training in place to help him learn to exchange items and to allow items to be removed without causing him any frustration. Bob will need a home with access to his own private garden where he can relax and enjoy outdoor time in a familiar environment. He can sometimes feel worried by unfamiliar people and has shown some vocal reactivity towards them, particularly when they appear unexpectedly. Having a secure private garden will help Bob feel more comfortable and allow him to spend time outside without becoming overwhelmed. Bob is a sociable dog who enjoys being around other dogs. At times, he can become quite vocal when he sees them in the distance out of frustration of not being able to greet them. While Bob continues to work on his social skills and training, he needs to be the only dog in the household. He would benefit from having some canine companions who can match his energy and playful nature. Bob is looking for new owners who understand that he is still a work in progress and are willing to invest time and patience into helping him reach his full potential. He has so much to offer and he is sure to become an incredibly rewarding companion.
