Cuba – a quiet soul with great potential Cuba is about one and a half years old and has spent his entire young life in the animal shelter together with his sister Dominica so far. He only knows daily life behind bars. No wonder then that Cuba is currently very reserved and insecure. New impressions quickly unsettle him, walks outside the shelter grounds still scare him, and the world outside is full of unknown stimuli. But Cuba wants it, that is noticeable. He seeks the company of people, even though he has not yet learned to fully trust them. Despite his uncertainty, the beautiful Belgian Malinois mix shows no sign of aggression, but meets new things with caution and quiet skepticism. We are convinced: what he lacks is a reliable framework, a calm environment, and a person who shows him that attachment can mean safety - and how much beauty life has to offer. In contact with other dogs, Cuba is friendly and social. A confident, calm first dog would certainly be a valuable companion for him and could help him develop self-confidence. That is exactly what the caretakers on site are now trying: after his sister was able to blossom significantly with a new companion by her side in a short time, Cuba is now waiting for a suitable roommate. The young male dog is hardly familiar with daily structures. Potty training, being alone or riding in a car - all of this he still has to learn from scratch. Therefore, we are looking for people with empathy, calmness and patience. People who understand that development takes time - especially with dogs who have not yet experienced a fixed point of reference. We very much hope that Cuba will soon experience what it means to have a family and what life outside the shelter cages can look like. Because beneath all his insecurity, an active and intelligent personality is waiting to play freely outside, to experience small and big adventures - and to feel what love is at the side of his humans. Cuba – leise Seele mit großem Potenzial Cuba ist etwa anderthalb Jahre alt und musste bisher, gemeinsam mit seiner Schwester Dominica, sein gesamtes junges Leben im Tierheim verbringen. Viel mehr als den Alltag hinter Gittern kennt er nicht. Kein Wunder also, dass Cuba aktuell noch sehr zurückhaltend und unsicher ist. Neue Eindrücke verunsichern ihn schnell, Spaziergänge außerhalb des Tierheimgeländes machen ihm noch Angst, und die Welt da draußen ist für ihn voller unbekannter Reize. Doch Cuba möchte, das ist spürbar. Er sucht die Nähe zu Menschen, auch wenn er noch nicht gelernt hat, ihnen voll zu vertrauen. Bei aller Unsicherheit zeigt der schöne Malinois-Mischling keine Spur von Aggression, sondern begegnet Neuem mit Vorsicht und stiller Skepsis. Wir sind überzeugt: Was ihm fehlt, ist ein verlässlicher Rahmen, ein ruhiges Umfeld und ein Mensch, der ihm zeigt, dass Bindung Sicherheit bedeuten kann – und wie viel Schönes das Leben zu bieten hat. Im Kontakt mit anderen Hunden ist Cuba freundlich und sozial. Ein souveräner, gelassener Ersthund wäre für ihn sicher ein wertvoller Begleiter und könnte ihm helfen, Selbstvertrauen zu entwickeln. Genau das versuchen nun auch die Pfleger*innen vor Ort: Nachdem seine Schwester bereits in kürzester Zeit mit einem neuen Artgenossen an ihrer Seite deutlich aufblühen konnte, wartet jetzt auch Cuba auf einen passenden Mitbewohner. Der junge Rüde kennt bislang kaum Alltagsstrukturen. Ob Stubenreinheit, Alleinbleiben oder Autofahren – all das muss er noch von Grund auf lernen. Deshalb suchen wir Menschen mit Einfühlungsvermögen, Ruhe und Geduld. Menschen, die verstehen, dass Entwicklung Zeit braucht – gerade bei Hunden, die bislang keine feste Bezugsperson erleben durften. Wir hoffen sehr, dass Cuba bald erfahren darf, was es bedeutet, eine Familie zu haben, und wie ein Leben außerhalb der Tierheimzwinger aussehen kann. Denn unter all seiner Unsicherheit wartet eine aktive und intelligente Persönlichkeit darauf, draußen unbeschwert zu tollen, kleine und große Abenteuer zu erleben – und an der Seite seiner Menschen zu fühlen, was Liebe ist.
