Happy to travel, cross paths with other dogs (as long as they are respectful) Not into: having his legs touched, grooming, being overly petted, cats; or kids. Seeking: a quiet life with a single person to call his own and get a fuss from (in time & on his terms), a nice bit of grass to zoom on, and an occasional biscuit. Fred is a character, he likes things his own way, he’s not keen on being overly fussed, he is very cat like in his characteristics, he likes affection but on his terms. Due to Fred’s boundaries being crossed/misread in the past, he doesn’t trust people & he has learnt that biting people gets him the space he requires & he has done this on multiple occasions. Once he starts to get settled into a home he has a tendency to guard people & areas. Due to Fred’s has trust issues & needs someone who is calm & confident & will give him the space he needs to feel comfortable. We truly believe with time & patience he will become the cute love bug that he looks. We have plenty of guidance to share to help you make a success of it. Fred does have sight issues which will decline with age & could also be a factor with him snapping especially in the evening or darker areas, so this needs taking into consideration. Fred needs to have his personal space respected and that is a tall order for a dog in this world. This simple need is going to see him confined to looking at his kennel walls for the most of his days…at just 5 years old that would be around 10 more years. Nowadays, people don’t adopt dogs with needs of their own. Imagine the pressure of being refused a home until you were perfect! In the past Fred has found himself in situations that overwhelm him and make him anxious, and when people have not understood this, he has resorted to bite as the only way of communicating. With our guidance and support this can be avoided. As you become best pals and build trust between each other Fred will look to you for guidance and reassurance instead.
