Gilberto is a very special kitten who arrived at Triple A when he was very small – and he still is. Right from the start, we could see he was having difficulty moving, and following an assessment, everything points to him suffering from cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that causes ataxia and makes his movements different. That was probably the reason why someone decided to abandon him. But to us, Gilberto isn’t a ‘different’ cat. He’s a little fighter who has shown that you can be happy even if life hasn’t got off to the best start. Because of the way he moves, he can’t live with other very active kittens, as some of them push or hit him and he can’t defend himself or react with the same agility. Even so, he never loses his zest for life. Gilberto is a very affectionate cat; he loves human company, being cuddled and feeling protected. He savours every stroke and every moment of attention as if he knows that affection is the best gift he can receive. We know that finding a family for a kitten with ataxia won’t be easy. It requires people with a big heart, capable of looking beyond the way he walks and discovering what a wonderful companion he is. 💛 Gilberto doesn’t need pity.
