19-09-26 Hachi is a super sweet old man who has come to us from a breeder to find his forever home. He has been through so much and is now looking for the perfect retirement home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by love, comfort and plenty of cosy naps. When Hachi first arrived with us, he was sadly very unwell and was passing a lot of blood in his urine and needing to urinate constantly. He required emergency surgery, during which a large 3cm bladder stone was discovered. This must have been causing him a great deal of pain and discomfort, but thankfully the stone was removed and Hachi has made a wonderful recovery. He also had two teeth extracted at the same time. Hachi has been in foster with a member of staff since arriving with us so that he could recover in a quiet and comfortable environment. He is an incredibly sweet and loving boy who adores fuss and attention and loves to give paw! He spends a lot of his time sleeping, but as his recovery has continued, he has definitely found a little spring in his step. His playful side is starting to emerge too, which is absolutely adorable, and he is even beginning to discover the joys of playing with toys! Hachi is a fairly confident boy and is very people focused, but he also really enjoys the company of other dogs. He loves snuggling up with his doggy friends, so would be very happy to have another kind and friendly resident dog in his new home to keep him company. In the right circumstances and with adopters who are around most of the time, we would consider homing him as an only dog. He will be looking for an adult only home, as we feel he would prefer a quiet and peaceful retirement home, but he has met young children well and would be fine to have visiting children around. He has also meet a cat fine and so could possibly be homed with a dog savvy cat. Hachi had never lived in a home before moving into foster, so he has had lots to learn, but he is doing brilliantly and is really enjoying discovering what home life is all about. He is doing well with his house training, although he will need kind and patient adopters who understand that he is still learning. He has been wearing nappies around the house while he has been recovering and these don't seem to bother him at all. Hachi is beginning to learn all about walking on a lead and harness and is doing really well. We think he will enjoy gentle little adventures with his new family, followed by curling up in a comfy bed and having a well earned nap. Hachi has been through so much, but he has remained the sweetest boy throughout it all. Now that he is feeling so much better, we would love to find him a special retirement home where he can be cherished, pampered and allowed to enjoy all the simple pleasures of life. He hasn't been castrated as our vet felt like this would be too much to put him through on top of the other surgeries, so his adopters will need to sign a disclaimer to ensure they understand this and that he cannot be around unspayed female dogs. Hachi has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog. This dog can be homed with cats.
