Country of origin: Hungary On June 6, 2026, the adorable Leoni, together with senior dog Uzon, was wandering aimlessly along a busy road in Kecskemét, and the animal shelter was notified. It was a dangerous place for two innocent canine souls. Fortunately, both dogs were safely secured and taken into the care of the animal shelter. Whether the two came from the same home or met “on the road,” whether they were abandoned or simply ran away, and how long they had been left to fend for themselves—all these remain questions we can’t answer. Their story will remain their secret. What we do know is that neither dog had a microchip; no one was missing them. Both were in a very neglected state. Uzon had already been neutered, but unfortunately, Leoni was injured. They had probably never known the sunny side of life, and we’d like to change that as soon as possible. Leoni and Uzon have now completed their quarantine period and are eagerly looking forward to finding their forever humans—people who can show them just how wonderful life can be when you’re cared for, loved, and respected. Leoni and Uzon don’t need to be adopted together. As mentioned above, Leoni was injured, though unfortunately we don’t know exactly what happened. An X-ray revealed a fractured hip head on the left side, including dislocation—a condition that was successfully operated on in Budapest in early July 2026, involving a femoral head resection. She also had a fracture of the radius and ulna in her right forearm. Thankfully, this didn’t require surgery and is healing on its own. So Leoni has just been through a tough time. She was incredibly brave, gratefully accepted help, and endured everything without complaint. Now she’s starting physiotherapy; she’s already using her operated leg, and with that, nothing should stand in the way of a long and happy life ahead—her prospects look excellent. Leoni has been shaved, and she already feels much more comfortable. Leoni is simply irresistible. She’s a sweet, kind, gentle, and friendly dog who was initially a bit shy—until she realized that people mean her no harm and won’t hurt her. She thoroughly enjoys any kind of affection and attention; it seems she’s got a lot of catching up to do in that regard. She needs lots of love and close contact with us humans. Leoni would love to go exploring with her new people and discover the big, wide world out there—step by step. She’s not yet completely comfortable with the leash, but practice makes perfect, as they say—and Leoni will certainly quickly learn what’s expected of her, because she wants to please her people and get everything right. Leoni gets along well with other dogs, but due to her rehabilitation, she’s currently being kept alone in a kennel. (As of July 14, 2026) We’re looking for loving and empathetic dog lovers for our charming Leoni—people who’ll let her settle in peacefully and without any demands, allowing her to adjust at her own pace. Later, when the time is right, they’ll provide her with appropriate physical and mental stimulation, offering her a varied, fulfilling, and protected life as a beloved family dog. A place where she can enjoy exciting walks, where she finally receives all the love, safety, security, and care she probably never experienced before—and where she can finally feel that she means something and is important to someone. In return, Leoni brings plenty of love to her new home. Who will this little treasure, Leoni, entrust with her heart? Leoni can travel starting around the end of July 2026, once she’s found a permanent home or a foster placement.
