Rocco is a French Bulldog based at our Windsor Centre who is searching for a calm, adult only home where he can settle in at his own pace. His new owners will need to be committed to continuing his ongoing training and supporting him in his new home. Rocco can find certain situations challenging and has shown that he can be worried by unfamiliar people. He benefits from a gentle and patient approach when meeting new faces and, given the time and space he needs, has built bonds with members of staff here. He is looking for a quiet household where his needs will be understood, as loud noises and busy environments can make him feel anxious. He's a fun, quirky character and you can't fail to smile in his company, but with this comes a strong nature and a dog who knows what he likes and what he doesn't like. Rocco's new family will also need to be prepared to manage some resource guarding behaviours and continue the positive training and management plans that have been put in place for him. He is a clever boy who already knows "sit" and "paw" and takes his treats gently. Rocco has shown consistent reactions to household items such as the vacuum cleaner, mop and spray bottles and will growl, bark and lunge towards them. He has been responding well to training here at Battersea Old Windsor but this sort of behaviour will need consistent management at home and owners will need to keep one step ahead of him. When it comes to other dogs, Rocco has shown a mixture of reactions. He can be fairly independent around some dogs but has also displayed signs of discomfort and uncertainty around others. Once settled into his new home, he would benefit from gentle socialisation alongside calm and steady canine companions who can help build his confidence. Rocco walks beautifully on lead and enjoys peaceful woodland strolls where he can explore at his own pace. One of his favourite pastimes is a game of fetch with his beloved soft toys, and he's always happy to show off his playful side once he feels comfortable. He will need a secure, private garden where he can build his confidence. Rocco will be a true project and is looking for patient new owners who are willing to give him the time, understanding, and support he needs to thrive.
